Dive Rite

Lamar Hires and Mark Leonard, two underwater cave explorers and cave diving instructors from North Florida, founded Dive Rite in 1984.
Technical diving equipment was virtually non-existent in the 1970s and early 1980s.
The majority of cave divers created their own equipment or adapted ocean diving equipment to fit the cave environment. Lamar and Mark changed that by founding the world’s first technical dive gear company.
They introduced the first products designed for underwater exploration to the scuba industry, such as the Classic wing and the canister light.
Dive Rite was the first manufacturer to introduce the “Bridge,” a user-programmable Nitrox computer, in 1991. With the introduction of the TransPac harness in 1996, Dive Rite transformed the dive industry.
